the long quilt project

so aside from desperatly needing to make a quilt for myself after making many for other people, i have quite the obsession with hexagons. i have started cutting the fabric, etc, and have settled on a hand-pieced top made of 1.25" hexagons. i am overwhelmingly excited to (someday?) have this on my bed, but the sheer number of hexagons i need to make (about 2600!!!!) is incredibly daunting. so far, i have about 2/3s of the tiny papers cut, and about half of those pinned to fabric. here's where i am now:
